Pay-per-meeting appointment setting: how it works.

A dedicated caller books meetings into your calendar, and you pay a bonus only for the ones that happen. Here's how it works, and the rules for contacting businesses in the UK.

In short

With pay-per-meeting appointment setting, a dedicated sales assistant calls and emails businesses that fit your customer, qualifies them and books meetings into your calendar. You pay a monthly fee for their time and a bonus for each meeting that actually takes place. With Renewminder Talent that's £1,250 a month plus £50 a meeting. In the UK, calls and emails to businesses must follow PECR: say who you are, respect the Telephone Preference Service lists and give a way to opt out.

How it works

  • You describe who you sell to and what makes a good meeting.
  • Your assistant builds the list, calls and emails, and follows up.
  • Qualified meetings go straight into your calendar with a short brief.
  • Every outcome is logged in your CRM, so you can see the work.

What counts as a meeting

Agree it in writing before you start: a meeting that takes place, with someone who fits the profile you described. Meetings that don't happen aren't paid for.

The UK rules on calling and emailing businesses

From the ICO's guide to PECR.

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) set the rules for marketing calls and emails. In short: say who's calling and give a contact address, don't call numbers registered with the Telephone Preference Service or the Corporate Telephone Preference Service unless they've agreed to hear from you, and include a simple way to opt out of emails. Rules for sole traders and some partnerships are closer to the rules for individuals. Read the ICO's guide before you start.

Phones and tools

Your assistant works in your CRM and email. For calls, a business phone number (for example Google Voice) keeps your number and records the calls in one place, so you don't pay for an extra dialling system.

When it works best

  • Your deal is worth enough that one meeting a week pays for itself.
  • You can describe your ideal customer in a sentence.
  • Someone on your side takes the meetings and follows up quickly.

Quick answers

How much does pay-per-meeting appointment setting cost?

With Renewminder Talent, £1,250 a month for a dedicated sales assistant, plus £50 for each meeting that takes place.

Is cold calling businesses legal in the UK?

Yes, within PECR: identify yourself, don't call numbers on the TPS or CTPS lists unless they've agreed, and respect requests to stop.

Can I send cold emails to businesses in the UK?

To corporate bodies, yes, if you say who you are and give a simple way to opt out. Sole traders and some partnerships are treated more like individuals. See the ICO's guide to PECR.

Do I need a calling system?

Not necessarily. A business phone number such as Google Voice, plus your CRM, is enough for one dedicated caller.
